With the arrival of our new title sponsor SPY Optics and primary sponsor SKLZ the SPY+Swamis Development Elite Team (DET) has elevated purpose for the 2012 season.

The mission of the SPY+Swamis DET is to build a competitive regional squad with an emphasis on developing talented young riders. To reach our goals we will strongly foster teamwork and strive to produce professional riders both on and off the bicycle.

In addition to fantastic support from our sponsors we have created new structure to maximize our success. Swamis President Steve Masterson is serving as team manager, Orion Berryman, Pascal Bonaventure and Anton Villatoro will be the captains and Pat Jak will provide physiological testing for the athletes. Additionally, Anton will use his experience as Lance Armstrong’s US Postal teammate to mentor the developing riders and impart tactical awareness.

Members of the SPY+Swamis 2012 DET are from the greater San Diego area. Each rider has been carefully selected and we have assembled a team that will have unbreakable chemistry, unbeatable balance (climbers/sprinters/power/overall), and unbelievable potential.  We have two road race state champions and one former TT state champion in our roster. The team will target a combination of in-district and select out of district races to push our limits and test our teamwork.
