About Swamis

Founded in 1986, Swami's Cycling Club is one of the premier and most recognized clubs in southern California. We are composed of more than 200 cyclists in the San Diego region who participate in the entire spectrum of cycling activities from the adrenalin-pumping action of racing to recreational fun and fitness rides.

Swami's is committed to developing the sport of cycling and cultivating a positive lifestyle. Each year we organize several cycling events including the Hoehn Motors Del Mar Criterium Series. Swami's also supports and raises money for a variety of charities such as the Komen Breast Cancer Fund and the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

Swami's is a 501(c)3 Charitable Organization and a member of the United States Cycling
Federation (USCF) – the governing body for road and track cycling in the United States.

Swami's member activities encompass the entire range of the sport, with racing, long-distance endurance and recreational fun and fitness rides appealing to different parts of the club membership.

We are by no means an elitist team. While many of us are current or former racers, we have always felt that this club should be open for anyone who loves the sport of cycling. Our goal is to encourage and support all riders who want to participate and develop their skills. Everyone is welcome.

The 2008 Developmental Elite Team  (DET)

The 2008 Men’s Developmental Elite Cycling Team is made up of 8 tremendously talented and experienced riders for regional and select national events.  Youthful and enthusiastic developmental riders alongside their more experienced mentors create a unique chemistry where commitment to each other and self-sacrifice shine brightest.

The mission of this developmental effort is to thoughtfully cultivate a carefully selected team of young elite level racers in their early 20’s into an energetic and tightly knit band of brothers rarely seen in amateur racing. 

Weekly Rides

Swami's conducts several regular weekly fitness and training rides. Bicycling magazine has ranked the famous Saturday Swami's ride as one of the top 10 organized rides in the country and we have had some great riders join us including 7-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong and many Olympians.

USCF Racing

Swami's has a strong presence at local races and has achieved many top placings this year including Southern California district titles in the women’s individual time trial and the men’s team time trial.
